CQEC Postpones its 2020 Spring Meeting in Newport Beach, CA
Due to circumstances outside of the CQEC's control, we will postpone the Spring 2020 CQEC General Assembly Meeting in Newport Beach, CA scheduled for March 18 - 19, 2020. We apologize for the disruption and impact this has on your travel plans, expenses, and personal lives.
As of March 10, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), seven CQEC Member companies had restricted all non-essential travel and their Representatives will not be able to attend the CQEC meeting. This included our host company’s office, McCarthy Construction, in Newport Beach, CA. My company, Granite Construction, has informally begun to selectively reduce non-essential travel on a case-by-case basis in certain areas of the country. I suspect a number of other companies will follow suit in the coming weeks.
In addition, four other CQEC Member Company Representatives can’t attend the meeting for other reasons not associated with COVID-19. As a result, nearly 1/3 of our CQEC Member Representatives will not be able to attend the meeting already and this number may grow in the next week. In fairness to everyone, it only makes sense to postpone our meeting until another time when we can enjoy the benefit of full attendance.
The Board of Governors will meet remotely via teleconference next week to discuss our next steps and consider a future meeting date in the near future.
Again, we apologize for the inconvenience. We look forward to seeing everyone again face-to-face soon.
Stay healthy and safe!
